Valerie Purdie-Greenaway, a Psychology Professor at Columbia, will give a talk entitled “Inclusive Excellence Remixed: What psychological science teaches us about student achievement in STEM classrooms and beyond” that will explain what it takes to improve student performance and persistence based on her work in conducting randomized controlled trials in science-based college classrooms and PhD programs to show that small psychology nudges can transform how students achieve. 

There will be a pre-talk cocktail hour with free appetizers & a cash bar from 6:00 to 7:00 with the talk beginning at 7:00.   NOTE:  Cash bar means cash - the Union Club does not accept credit/debit cards or electronic payments.
