Emerald Necklace Tour 2024

Please join us for a tour of the Back Bay Fens area of the Emerald Necklace park system led by the President of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, alumna Karen Mauney-Brodek (CC 1998).

While you hum the Standells song "Dirty Water," do you wonder where the Muddy River is, the massive revitalization effort to get it flowing again, projects underway to bring back native plants, and how they are supporting the vision Frederick Law Olmsted had when he designed it more than 100 years ago? As one of the one of only a few remaining intact linear parks designed by Olmsted, Karen will lead us on a 90-minute walk in the area highlighting the history and looking to the future of this amazing green space that spans from Brookline to the banks of the Charles River. Afterwards there will be a self-pay gathering at Time Out Market food hall.

$25 per person. Net proceeds will be split between the Emerald Necklace Conservancy and the CAA Boston Book Awards.

Location: Meet at the Shattuck Visitor Center at 125 The Fenway, Boston MA 02115. The Visitor Center is located along the Fenway in the Back Bay Fens, across the street and over a bit from the MFA.

Parking & Transit: Street parking at meters, as well as parking garages. Fenway has resident parking so you need to read the signs when you park. It is a short walk from the Northeastern University or MFA stop on the Green Line and Lansdowne Street stop on the Commuter Rail.

Rain Date: Monday, June 10th at the same time
