Architecture Tour of Harvard Square

Join the guided ~ two hour walking tour led by Wen Wen (CC’12, HGSD ‘15, and Associate at Safdie Architects) through historic Harvard Square. Limited to 15 attendees, the tour covers the history of the buildings as well as their distinct architectural features.

Tour will start at the Smith Campus Center – a piece of Brutalist architecture updated to provide new gathering spaces and to meet today’s needs. Continuing through Harvard Yard and its various historical monuments, it will continu on to the Carpenter Center – the only work of Le Corbusier in North America – as well as the abutting Harvard Art Museum, designed by the same architect responsible for the master plan of several buildings at Columbia’s new Manhattanville Campus.  Afterwards there will be a self-pay gathering at one of the Harvard Square eateries.
