Dim Sum at Joyful Garden

Join fellow Columbia alum as we come together to "dim sum."  We will enjoy a full and representative slate of dim sum and other Cantonese dishes for all to share.  No one will be going home hungry!

Dim sum is a traditional, Cantonese-style brunch, typically consisting of a large range of small Cantonese dishes (similar to Spanish tapas in size and portion).  According to Wikipedia, the meal was popularized in the tenth century, when the city of Canton began to experience an increase in commercial travel, and travelers began to frequent teahouses for small-portion meals with tea (which is why dim sum is also often referred to as going to "yum cha" (brunch). "Yum cha" includes two related concepts: the first is "jat zung loeng gin" (Chinese: 一盅兩件), which translates literally as "one cup, two pieces". This refers to the custom of serving teahouse customers two delicately made food items, savory or sweet, to complement their tea. The second is dim sum, which translates literally to "touch the heart", the term used to designate the small food items that accompanied the tea.

Joyful Garden gets incredibly busy on the weekends (for dim sum!) and will only seat us when together, please be on time.  Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions in advance.  Parking is available.
