Columbia alumnus HJ Lee (CC ‘84), the co-founder of KoreanAmericanStory.org, is generously arranging for a free private screening of Happy Cleaners for Columbia alumni in the Boston area. The private screening is followed by a discussion of the film by Executive Producer HJ Lee and the film makers, Julian Kim and Peter S. Lee.
The film tells the story of the Choi family members who navigate through a plethora of issues, in this day-in-the-life narrative. We see their interactions with their friends, extended family members, and people in their world. Despite the challenges of this life, one common theme remains: Korean-Americans are survivors.
Happy Cleaners is the winner of the CAAMFest 2019 Audience Award for Best Narrative and the VC Media’s Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival 2019’s Emerging Filmmaker Award.
