Vanessa Battista (SON 2006, 2008) is a pediatric nurse practitioner and currently serves in a healthcare leadership role. She also has her MBA as well as a certificate in pastoral ministry. She is interested in engaging and connecting CU alumni in the Boston area with a particular interest in the healthcare space, and greatly values the passion for and commitment to lifelong education that were instilled at Columbia. Since joining the CAAB Board in 2024 she has been involved in planning different events for alumni in the area. She also serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for the Columbia University School of Nursing.

Shakesha Coleman graduated from the Columbia School of Social Work in 2013. She is looking forward to engaging all alumni, but especially older alumni. She will also be the Board’s Liaison to the Ivy+ Alumni Community.

Daniel Greenstein (SEAS 2000, ARCH 2004) graduated Columbia with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Real Estate Development.  He currently handles real estate due diligence for a major bank. His prior experience including working abroad in Sydney, Australia and Doha, State of Qatar as a civil engineer. Personal interests include skiing, biking, swimming, and spending time with his new family. 

 

Karen Kalina (BUS 1994) joined the CAAB Board in 2016 serving in various roles and was elected co-president in 2023. Her focus has been to increase alumni engagement via a range of activities and events. Prior to moving to Boston, she served on the CBS Alumni Club of NY, where she was one of the founding members of the Sustainable Business Committee. In 2025, she was appointed to the Board of the CBS Women's Circle. In addition to education, she has also served on non-profit boards, including the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Currently leading her family's real estate business, Trulind LLC, Karen has two decades of experience spanning global financial services, healthcare, and technology. Karen has held senior leadership roles at Fidelity Investments, Massachusetts General Hospital, Siemens, Credit Suisse, KPMG, and State Street Bank & Trust where she drove strategic planning, financial transformation, and cross-functional innovation across complex organizations. Having lived internationally, she values the strong Columbia connections that bring us all together. 

 

Stephen Kane, Esq. (CC 1980, LAW 1983) began volunteering for Columbia in 1983 when he began a 40 year run of alumni interviewing for admissions at Columbia College.  He started organizing the men’s basketball at Harvard pre-game event around 2000 and joined the CAA of Boston Board (then known as Columbia University Club of New England) in 2004.  He served as President from 2008 through 2016.  During his term, the Boston Club won the CAA Club Award of Excellence in 2014.  He also served on the University’s CAA Board from 2010 through 2016.  In 2017, Steve Kane was awarded the Columbia Alumni Medal during Commencement.  Steve remains an active member of the CAA of Boston Board, still running the men’s basketball pre-game event and assisting in coordinating Columbia Professors making presentations to the Boston alumni.

 

John Mullervy (SEAS 2000) started volunteering in 2004 organizing the club's email list and communication. Instrumental in moving CAA of Boston (then known as Columbia University Club of New England) operations online, replacing paper forms with web pages and mobile apps. He also restarted the popular pub night series which continues several times a year, growing from a handful to a crowd every time. He served as Vice President from 2008 to 2016 and President from 2016 to 2019. John also served on the University's CAA Board from 2017 to 2023, co-chairing the Associations & Clubs Committee the final two years. He remains an active volunteer, helping maintain CAA Boston's online infrastructure and still organizing the occasional event.

 

Ben Nudelman (CC 1981) has been an active CAA Boston board member for ten years. During that time, he has facilitated numerous gatherings for CAAB, such as "pub nights" and administered its annual Book Award Program, an initiative that recognizes outstanding Boston-area high school juniors and seniors. As an accomplished, IT business analyst, solution and product manager, Ben has focused his career on enhancing clients' business productivity through effective use of technology. In his leisure time, Ben enjoys playing the piano and studying foreign languages.

 

Jack O'Loughlin (CC 1981) after obtaining a degree in economics and an MBA from Dartmouth spent 40 years in banking before retiring in 2022. Jack is current a student at Boston College as part of the inaugural class of the BC Companions program.  Jack otherwise enjoys spending time with his family including four grandsons.

 

Tony Philip (SEAS 2023) holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Integrated Circuit Design. He currently works with analog devices, contributing to the development of advanced semiconductor chips. Prior to his graduate studies, Tony gained extensive experience working on a range of innovative hardware projects from quantum to consumer electronics. He now serves on the board as one of the young alumni supporting the Bostonian community. Seen above is him trying to beat a mechanical calculator.

 

Dan Rippy (BUS 1993) has broad executive experience in life sciences company leadership, corporate development, fundraising, and commercialization. He currently serves as Head of Business Development at UMass Chan Medical School. Previously, Dan served as CEO of Allegro Diagnostics (acquired by Veracyte), Macrocyclics (acquired by OranoMed), and LiquiGlide, an MIT spinout company. Dan has also served as VP of business development at Lantheus Holdings and head of business development at DFB Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Dan worked in business development at Johnson & Johnson and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Dan has an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, an S.M. from Harvard-M.I.T., and a B.A. cum laude from Macalester College.

 

Leonard Robinson (SEAS 2013) served as president of the CAAB from 2019-2023. As an alumnus and former secretary of CAAB, Robinson was dedicated to preserving the organization during harrowing times, promoting the club's values of innovation, entrepreneurship, and independence. Under his leadership, the CAAB navigated several challenging years and expanded its cross-school outreach and representation. Today, Robinson remains an active member of the Columbia community as a member of the CEAA and continues to support the university's broader mission.

 

Dominic Tong, MD (P&S 1984) is a semi-retired physician executive with diverse healthcare practice and management experience and senior executive roles in the biopharma, medical device & diagnostics industry with the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies and early-stage life science companies. Early in his career, he was a Senior Assistant Surgeon with the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. Dr. Tong currently serves as an NSF I-Corps Adjunct Instructor with UCSD (2014), SDSU (2014), MIT (2018) and Columbia Engineering (2023). Since 2018, he has been a mentor for the MIT Venture Mentoring Service (VMS). His personal interests are film, basketball, golf, and fishing.

 

Dominic Yee, Ph.D., Esq. (GSAS 2006) is an accomplished intellectual property attorney who has shaped global patent portfolios, enabled growth and partnership of early and late-stage assets for biopharmaceutical companies.

He has served as the co-president of the Columbia Alumni Association of Boston (CAAB) since 2023. He attended his first CAAB event when he moved to Boston in 2009 and became part of the Board of Directors in 2017. With the CAAB, he has cultivated his passion for building community and connecting people, particularly through good food and sports. He is especially proud of his management and expansion of the Ivy+ Alumni Summer Softball League (though the championship title still eludes the Alumni Lions). A current interest is finding more ways to connect and encourage thoughtful conversations between scientists and healthcare professionals in the Boston area.

 

Man Wu is an enthusiastic epidemiologist in the Apple Woman Digital Health Initiative at Harvard Chan School of Public Health. She obtained her MPH from Mailman School of Public Health in 2023, with a research focus in chronic diseases, especially diabetes and obesity. During her study at Mailman, she was also a venture fellow at DDx, and a lead member of Nucleate, where she put her efforts in supporting healthcare startups. 

 

William Woo (CC 1988) is a current Board Member and served as Former President of CAA Boston predecessor Columbia University Club of New England from 1997-2003. He is former member of the Columbia College Alumni Association Board of Directors. As President of the Club, he lead the effort for the club’s Scholarship Fund to reach endowed status – the Fund annually benefits a student from the New England area attending Columbia. He currently works with investors and companies on Sustainability and Impact Finance/Technology. He lectures at Boston University and Northeastern University and is an Advisor at Greentown Labs and non sibi ventures. He previously worked in public and private investments for over 20 years with firms such as Pioneer Investments (Amundi) and Advent International.

 

Emma Zhou (GSAS 2015) is a graduate of the Department of Statistics with over a decade of experience in data science and AI solutions across the healthcare and finance industries. She has been an active supporter of the alumni community, volunteering with CAAB on young alumni events since 2024 and mentoring statistics students in career sessions since 2021.

Beyond her professional work, Emma is passionate about social impact. She serves as a board member of Chinese Young Professionals Network (CYPN), and she is the founder of The Meichen Show, a program dedicated to bringing live music performances to senior living homes in Massachusetts.
